The Job Purpose

The role of a Night Porter requires a mature, security and safety conscious attitude to ensure the wellbeing of all guests and hotel property through the night. Key duties as per the Night Porter Duty List are required to be performed during the night and daily hand over procedures need to be carried out in an efficient and responsible manner. The ability to work well alone is essential, along with excellent customer service skills.

The Main Responsibilities and Key Tasks

• Carry out room service requests between the hours of 22.30 and 07.30
• Answer the telephone to prospective customers and take messages
• Cleaning in public areas of the hotel and spa
• Fire walks around the building
• Helping to prepare for breakfast service
• Ensuring a good understanding of all Hotel regulations.
• Tour all areas of the hotel on a regular basis
• Ensure all access to the hotel is secure as required by hotel policy and procedure.
• Be fully aware and adhere to all accounting policies and procedures.
• Be familiar with current licensing regulations.
• Perform all pre & post night audit duties.
• Clean and maintain the work area, materials, and equivalent
• Report all potential and real hazards immediately.
• Attend all fire, health and safety training
• Have a general awareness of Health and Safety in relation to all tasks and activities undertaken in the department.
• To operate a proper handover system between shifts in order to maximise guest satisfaction.
• The ideal candidate will have experience in hospitality and in a similar role.
