ST BRIDES SPA HOTEL IN SAUNDERSFOOT NAMED AA HOTEL OF THE YEAR FOR WALES 2011-2012
St Brides Spa Hotel in Saundersfoot received nationwide recognition last night when it was named AA Hotel of the Year for Wales at the AA Hospitality Awards 2011 – 2012, hosted by Sophie Raworth, at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
Andrew and Lindsey Evans, owners of St Brides Spa Hotel, who received the award in front of an audience of over 700 members of the hospitality industry, commented, “It means everything to be recognised by our peers as worthy professionals within our craft. The reward is shared with the team in recognition of the efforts and dedication needed to achieve excellence.”
St Brides is a contemporary destination spa hotel, standing tall on a headland in
Pembrokeshire, with breathtaking views of Saundersfoot Harbour. This unique project is the result of the vision of St Brides’ owners, Andrew and Lindsey Evans, who bought the property in 2000. Their aim was to create West Wales’ first luxury destination spa hotel. St Brides has been transformed from what was once a traditional seaside hotel into a luxury escape retreat with stylish décor and contemporary artwork throughout. The building has been sympathetically converted to create facilities aimed at the spa connoisseur, business groups, contemporary art enthusiasts and ‘foodies’ alike, providing the perfect retreat to relax and unwind.
AA Hotel Services manager, Simon Numphud, said, “This family run hotel has been brought right up to date in a modern and contemporary style with broad appeal. It has been cleverly designed around its stunning views and combined with its high standards, makes it worthy of recognition.”
The AA Hospitality Awards bring together some of the most influential people within the hospitality industry to recognise the outstanding accomplishments of high-achieving AA establishments and individuals. The award event also sees the launch of the 2012 AA guides to UK hotels and restaurants, which contain details of all the winning establishments.
Guests were treated to a magnificent gourmet meal created by five AA Rosette-awarded chef Pierre Gagnaire in conjunction with the Hilton Park Lane kitchen team, and were entertained by Britain’s Got Talent stars Out of the Blue.
Selection is made based on overall excellence and the specific achievements throughout the previous year.
